The Dimensions of Life
FROM THE VISIBLE TO THE “INVISIBLE” WORLD
This educational tool, useful for all ages, was entirely made by Biology students from UFSC, as members of the Imagine Project, between the years 2013 and 2022. Their names are: Tomás Honaiser Rostirolla (creator of all the drawings and the 1st version), César Cunha, Guilherme Xavier, Henrique Andriolo and Juliana Antonia (creators of the current version, which includes texts, curiosities and fun exercises). The French and English versions were translated by the teachers Cathy Hupin (France) and Mouna Bouhlel (Tunisia).
The world is made up of things of different sizes : from objects that are smaller than dust grains to enormous mountains! Things are not different with living beings: we, the other animals and even plants are made of organs such as the heart and the lungs. These, in turn, are made of even smaller things, called cells, which have even smaller things inside.
We will show a microscopic world (that means it can only be seen with a microscope) using, as a reference, macroscopic objects very well known in our daily life. Now, it is time to start a trip through the different scales that make life.
